Cabinet Photo Pair - Identified Ship Captain & Ship Purser

This is a pair of vintage cabinet photos

One shows the Purser of the SS Wisconsin. He is dressed in his uniform & has signed the photo "Semper Fidelis" ("always faithful" - the Marine motto). The SS Wisconsin was one of the transatlantic steam packet ships carrying immigrants from England & Ireland to New York. The photographer was Dana of New York. Photo has a corner crease.

The other photo is identified as Capt B Dudley who was aged 90 in 1881. We believe this is Captain Benjamin Dudley who is buried in Mather Cemetery in West Brattleboro, Vermont. The photo is stamped "Brattleboro VT" on the back. Apparently, he was a ship's master for 49 years. The photo has a small light edge crease.

The subjects in cabinet photos are rarely identied, so this pair belongs in the collection of a serious collector.
