Encyclopedia Of Music Musical Instrument History 720 Pages

This is a great comprehensive resource book for a student of music, a music historian or a serious collector of musical instruments. The 9" x 11" hardcover book has 720 pages and is entitled The Golden Encyclopedia of Music by Norman Lloyd. The book was copyrighted in 1968 by Western Publishing Company. The generously illustrated text provides an alphabetical description of all aspects of music + a 24-page color section on instruments by Emanual Winternitz (curator of musical instruments at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York). Topics covered in detail include musical terms, musicians, types of music, and musical instruments. Musical instruments shown in the color section include: kithara, lutes, cittern, violins, lyre guitars, harps, hurdy-gurdy, kits (miniature fiddles), cornet, trombone, trumpet, Waldhorn, recorder, flute, bagpipes, spinettinas, virginals, harpsichords, organs, pianoforte. The hardcover shows a little edge/corner wear, but otherwise this book remains in excellent condition. If you are interested in the history of music or the history of musical instruments, or if you need a single resource book for musical terminology, this is a must-have for your collection.
